Korg ARP Odyssey FS-Kit

Korg has recently unveiled the ARP Odyssey FS Kit, allowing you to create your own unique version of the iconic synth.

The ARP Odyssey has been a mainstay in studios since its release in 1972. It can be found in iconic recordings from the likes of Kraftwerk, George Duke and Jean-Michele Jarre. As well as plenty of modern productions including much of Tom VR’s music.

In 2015 Korg released the ARP Odyssey FS. A fully analogue reissue of the ARP Odyssey MK III, which was originally released in 1978. The synth was highly praised and once again brought ARP back to the forefront of the modern music scene.

The ARP Odyssey FS Kit, staying true to the FS, uses the same exact analogue circuitry and preserves the same rich character fans of the synth have come to love. The kit also features the same specs as the original Rev. 3 model with a full-size keyboard and iconic black panel design with orange lettering.

No technical knowledge or soldering is required to assemble the synth. Korg has included an easy-to-follow pictorial guide to allow for quick and painless assembly of the unit.

The synth features the same oscillators as the ARP Odyssey FS with switchable sawtooth and square waveforms, pulse width modulation, oscillator sync, ring modulation, and pink or white noise.

For the filter, you have the option to switch between filters from all three historical revisions, the ARP Oddysey Rev1, Rev2/3, and FS. Each filter option is fully analogue.

The original ARP PPC (Proportional Pitch Control) based on a rubber pad design has been reproduced. Press the rubber pad with your finger to control pitch bend or vibrato depth.

The synth also has a portamento slider. You can use a switch to select different portamento modes from the Rev1 and Rev2/3 versions.

The Korg ARP Odyssey FS-Kit is available from March for an RRP of £1,699.

For the full specs on the synth make sure to visit Korg’s website.
