Black Friday gaming deals are here and, while we’ve been seeing gaming deals crop up all week, now that the big day is finally here we expect to see even deeper discounts landing throughout today – with many of the week’s best deals still available now.

This year’s Black Friday gaming deals include steep savings on gear, games, and bundles for Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch OLED, and PS5. Considering how many deals are available right now, we’ve put together this live blog to share the biggest and best discounts as we spot them, as well as occasional advice and warnings about what you should and shouldn’t impulse buy when it comes to gaming hardware.

We expect these price cuts will last through Black Friday weekend and into Cyber Monday on November 28 and we’ll be here with you the whole time so you don’t miss the biggest discounts. Though, you may have to act fast in some cases as deals on the likes of the best PS5 SSDs are being snapped up quickly.

If you have a particular platform in mind, we have hubs for the best Black Friday PS5 deals, Xbox Series X Black Friday deals, and Black Friday Nintendo Switch deals. We’ll be updating those consistently over the next few days but for the most up-to-date feed of deals, keep your eyes here on the live blog.

Hi folks! It’s Vic Hood, TRG’s Associate Editor. I’ll be bringing you the best Black Friday gaming deals for the next few hours before handing over to my esteemed colleague Rhys Wood. So let’s get cracking.

If you’re on the hunt for a great PlayStation 5 headset then you’re in luck. We’re already seeing discounts on some of the best PS5 headsets right now, in both the US and UK, at a variety of retailers.

In the US, you can save just over $30 on the PlayStation PULSE 3D Wireless Headset, $20 on the Razer X Kaira, $50 on the Astro Gaming A50, and over $90(!) on the EPOS H3 Hybrid.

In the UK, too, there’s £18 off the PlayStation PULSE 3D Wireless Headset (and £20 off the Midnight Black edition), $70 off the Astro Gaming A50, nearly $30 off the Razer Kaira X, and a whopping £70 off the SteelSeries Arctis 7P+.

While I expect some of these headsets will come down in price closer to the big day on Friday, if you’re wanting a discount on a great PS5 headset then you can’t go wrong with these deals.

EPOS H3 Hybrid Wired Gaming Headset: Was $179.99 now $87.48 at GameStop

Seagate Expansion Card with a 'Don't Miss' Badge beside it

It can be a real pain having to delete games off of your Xbox Series X or Xbox Series S, in order to make space for new ones. The Seagate Xbox Storage Expansion Card makes that less of a problem, letting you expand your Xbox storage without hassle – simply slide it into the back of your console.

The downside is this handy card is pretty expensive. That’s why I’m relieved to see some discounts on the 1TB version in the run-up to Black Friday. Right now there’s £35 off the Seagate Xbox Expansion Card at Amazon in the UK, bringing the price down to £184.99. In the US, there’s $20 off the Expansion Card, making it just under $200.

That’s still pretty pricey, but I’m hoping we see the price drop further towards the end of this week – especially as we’ve seen it reach £164.99/$189.99 previously. I’ve personally got one of these cards and find the extra 1TB storage it adds to the Xbox Series X’s 1TB means that I rarely have to delete games off my console (unless I go on an Xbox Game Pass downloading spree).

US

Save $20 The Seagate Storage Expansion card for Xbox is a hassle-free, must-have accessory for those who want to increase their console’s storage. While we’ve seen this card drop further in price than this, a $20 discount takes this handy storage device below $200.

Most comfortable gaming chair

The best gaming chairs are often expensive. I’ve been looking at picking one up myself this Black Friday, in hope of a decent discount, because I can’t justify to myself spending a huge amount of cash right now. Thankfully, our Hardware Editor Aleksha McLoughlin has scoured the web to put together a list of the best gaming chairs under $250 for Black Friday

While there’s currently not a huge selection, you can pick up the Respawn 110 Fabric for $212.49, the Razer Enki X for $229.99, or the AutoFull Ergonomic Gamer for $249.99

We expect a wider variety of gaming chairs to be discounted over Black Friday weekend, with some of these prices likely to fall even further.

Respawn 110 Fabric | was $260 now $212.49 at Amazon
Save $47 – This is the lowest price that we’re able to verify on this Fabric variant of the tried and trusted Respawn 110 gaming chair, as this particular model hasn’t enjoyed a price drop until now. We rarely see fabric seats under the $250 mark, making this offer well worth considering.

Razer Enki X | was $299 now $229.99 at Amazon

AutoFull Ergonomic Gamer | was $300 now $249.99 at Amazon

What we like about the Razer Wolverine V2 Chroma for Xbox Series X is how adjustable it is. Do you want to make the most out of some of the best fighting games without breaking the bank? If so, you’re in luck. The Hori Fighting Commander Octa is down to just $39.99 (was $50) for a $10 saving at Amazon right now in the US. Don’t fret if you’re based overseas, though, as you can also pick up the fight pad for £39.99 (was £42) at Amazon UK, too.

What we like the most about this fighting game controller is that you have an eight-way gate by the D-pad making certain 3D titles, such as Tekken 7, a little easier to play with analog movement instead of pure digital. This is the cheapest that we’ve seen the gamepad in the US and the UK, making now the ideal time to consider stepping up your game in the likes of Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter.

A Specialist in Battlefield 2042 holding a crossbow

One of the better Black Friday gaming deals that we’ve come across is Battlefield 2042 selling at one of the lowest prices on record right now in the US. You can pick up the multiplayer shooter for just $14.99 (was $40) on PS5 and also $14.99 (was $40) on Xbox Series X at Best Buy.

The game itself offers a ton of value especially at considerably under the $20 mark on Xbox Series X and PS5. There are not only your traditional multiplayer modes, which continue to develop with the game’s recent Season 3: Escalation update, but also Portal mode, too. For the low price of entry, you can experience 128-player open warfare scenarios, which can’t really be compared to other shooters on the market right now.

Nintendo Switch OLED review

Heyo, this is a very sleepy Julian Benson, TRG’s Editor-in-Chief, logging on for the 2am to 10am shift here in the UK. What I may be lacking in energy, I am making up with in deals. I am driven by discounts, succored by savings. That’s not a turn of phrase I’d normally allow on the site, but, as I say, it’s very early in the morning.

I’ll have some fresh deals coming up shortly, but first, a little buying advice. We’re seeing some excellent bundles and discounts on the Nintendo Switch OLED, the upgraded spin on Nintendo’s hybrid console. It’s currently on offer for the lowest price we’ve ever seen it in the UK. And there are some great bundles available, too.

Released last October and boasting a better screen, improved battery life, and snazzy color scheme, the Nintendo Switch OLED may seem like the default version of the console to buy. But, while we wait for what seems like an inevitable Nintendo Switch Pro (especially with the way recent Switch games are struggling to run on the hardware), our hardware writer Rhys Wood makes an excellent case for buying an original Nintendo Switch.

Essentially, if you plan on playing the console primarily in docked mode, then you will see none of the advantages of the Nintendo Switch OLED’s upgrades, and you’re better off getting the cheaper Nintendo Switch. Just look at the deals alongside each other (and note that the cheaper Nintendo Switches also come bundled with games and Nintendo Switch Online membership):

Nintendo Switch (Neon) + Mario Kart 8 Deluxe + 3 Months Switch Online: $299.99 at Best Buy
A very familiar Nintendo Switch bundle will return again for this year’s Black Friday. It includes the Switch console, a digital copy of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and a 3-month Switch Online membership.View Deal

Nintendo Switch OLED (Refurbished) | was $350 now $314.99 at Best Buy
Save $35 –  This is one of the cheapest rates on the Nintendo Switch OLED model we’ve seen in the pre-owned market. If you’re okay getting the console secondhand then you’re knocking $40 off here.
View Deal

Nintendo Switch + Mario Kart 8 Deluxe + Nintendo Switch Online (3 months): was £328 now £259 at Nintendo Store
It’s an even stronger deal in the UK, as the bundle’s price comes in at the cost of just the console itself. Essentially, you’re getting Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and 3 months of Nintendo Switch Online at no extra cost.View Deal

Nintendo Switch OLED: was £304.99 now £269.99 at Smyths Toys
Save £35 – This is quite frankly the best discount we’ve seen yet for the Nintendo Switch OLED. While a marginal upgrade over the base model in docked mode, the console shines in portable mode thanks to its crisp, vivid 720p OLED screen. If you really want your games’ colors to pop on the screen, then the OLED is the perfect console choice.View Deal

Walmart’s selling $10 Nintendo eShop gift cards for $9. At a time where we’re seeing $50 knocked off consoles, and games going for half-price, a $1 discount may not seem like much to shout about but when it’s money on a gift card, you’re looking at a kind of free money. A $10 game bought with a $10 gift card you bought for $9 is creating your own 10% discount on a game of your choosing.

Also, if you’re looking to give a gift to the gamers in your life, this way you aren’t running the risk of buying them a game they already own, you can give them a gift card and let them buy something for themselves.

Walmart’s reduced the $20 and $35 gift cards, too, but the reduction isn’t as good as the 10% off on the $10 gift card, so I’d recommend just buying multiple $10 gift cards.

Nintendo eShop $10: was $10 now $9 at Walmart
Save 10% –
A $1 reduction may not seem like much, but if you were planning on buying something in the Nintendo eShop then using a reduced gift card is like applying your own discount to a game. View Deal

Xbox Elite Controller Series 2

There have been some excellent Black Friday Xbox controller deals over the past few weeks, but we’re finally starting to see some deep discounts on the Xbox Elite Controller Series 2.

The Elite is the highly-customizable pro controller that Microsoft released for the Xbox Series X|S and PC. It’s a fantastic gamepad that feels wonderful in the hand and can genuinely improve your game, thanks to its hair triggers and rubberized grip.

Normally setting you back $179.99, you can get an Xbox Elite Wireless Series 2 Controller for just $129.99 over at Newegg, so long as you enter the code ‘BFFDAY22’ at checkout.

While not as good as the Newegg deal in the US, you can pick up an Xbox Elite Wireless Series 2 at a discount in the UK, too. Amazon is selling the pro gamepad for £142, down from £159.99.

Xbox Elite Series 2 wireless controller: Was $179.99 now $129.99 at Newegg
Save $50 –
This is the lowest price we’ve ever seen on the best Xbox Series X pad on the market. Looking for the best Xbox Series X pad on the market? The Elite Series 2 may be expensive, but extra features like textured grips, back paddles and swappable modules make it an excellent choice for seasoned gamers.View Deal

This is a strange recommendation as it’s not actually much of a saving, but it’s more for if you’re struggling to lay your hands on a PS5.

You may have been eagerly refreshing our PS5 restock page to grab one of the in-short-supply consoles. Currently, to buy one through Amazon and many other stores, you need an invitation.

However, there’s a great bundle on AntOnline that will get you a PS5, a copy of God of War Ragnarok, and an extra DualSense controller in blood-like cosmic red. The bundle will set you back $609.98, which is basically what buying the God of War PS5 bundle and a discounted DualSense controller would set you back if bought separately. The advantage of this deal is that you can buy it without waiting on an invitation.

This is an appealing bundle. If I was buying a PS5, this is the game and accessory I’d be wanting to pick up, along with a discounted PS plus subscription.

PS5 + God of War Ragnarok + DualSense controller: was $634.98 now $609.99 at AntOnline
Save $25 –
While not much of a saving, this bundle comes with one of the best games on the PS5 and an extra controller. What you’re really paying for here is the chance to skip the queues and the need for an invitation. If you’ve been waiting on a PS5, here’s your chance to pick one up.View Deal

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’s been out for less than a month, but it’s already enjoying a steep discount at Walmart, dropping from its box price of $69.99 to just $55 on both PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Activision Blizzard games, and the Call of Duty series in particular, tend not to see big discounts. Many of the older games are still being sold at full price years after release. So to see the new game drop down to $55 is a surprise.

The shooter is seeing a similar discount in the UK, with Amazon selling Modern Warfare 2 for £56.99, down from £69.99.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (PS5, PS4, XSX): Was $69.99 now $55 at Walmart

The PS Plus logo on a grey background

If you aren’t seeing a deal you like, one of the best things you can buy during Black Friday are discounted gift cards. They may not seem like an exciting purchase, but you are effectively buying the ability to apply a discount to whatever game you want.

There are currently great discounts on PSN gift cards, both in the US and UK, letting you pick up some of the best PS5 games on the cheap or even to buy a PS Plus subscription, which you should always try to top up during Black Friday

Over on Eneba, you can buy yourself a $100 PSN gift card for $82.71, saving you nearly 20% on the card’s price. Meanwhile, in the UK, at Amazon, you can buy a £75 gift card for £63.68, a £63 gift card for £56.70, and a £38 gift card for £34.20. Those may seem like odd prices, but that’s because these gift cards are meant to be for redeeming a year’s subscription of PS Plus Essential, Extra, or Premium.

PSN gift card $100: was $100 now $82.71 at Eneba
This is a nearly 20% saving on a $100 gift card to buy anything in the PSN store. You could buy yourself a year’s subscription to PS Plus premium and then have money left over to put toward another game, too.View Deal

PS5

What’s this, an actual discount on a PS5? I didn’t know such deals could exist!

In a year where the price of the PS5 has actually increased and stock is still in short supply, it’s amazing to see a retailer has actually knocked money off the hot ticket console. But, if you’re shopping in the UK, you can get a PS5 Digital Edition bundled Just Dance 2023 for £414.98, or with the Pulse 3D wireless headset for £458.98, down from the usual £474.98.

Now if you’re on the fence about a PS5 vs PS5 Digital Edition, they’re basically the same except one of them doesn’t have a disc drive to play physical games. Though, there are rumors that a disc drive accessory is due to be released in 2023 alongside a PS5 Slim. Still, until Sony confirms that attachment, you’ll need to make peace with only playing games you’ve bought in the PSN store.

Thanks to a free upgrade, you can get Horizon Forbidden West for PS4 and PS5 extremely cheaply in the US and UK right now. GameStop and Tesco are selling off old stock of the PS4 game for just $29 and £20, respectively. Sony also lets you freely upgrade the PS4 version to the PS5 version, even if you use a disc copy of the game.

AA battery

This isn’t the most exciting purchase, I get it, but, if you’re anything like me, then every time your Xbox Wireless controller runs out of charge you think to yourself ‘I should really bulk buy some batteries’. Well, now’s your chance as, for Black Friday, some bog standard AA batteries have been reduced down to a nice affordable price.

You can either get yourself a nice 4-pack of AA high-capacity rechargeable batteries for $5.59, down 60% from their usual $13.99 or, if you want to make sure you’re really never going to run dry, by yourself a pack of 24 batteries for $32.29, down from $37.99.

You’re not left out in the UK. Why not get a 100-pack for £23.79, down 32% from £34.99. If that seems excessive, you can get the smaller and much more cheaply priced 40-pack for £9.38, down from £11.03.

Yes, let’s scale back that ambition a little. 40 is a lovely number of batteries. You can sleep easy knowing you’ve 40 batteries to fall back on. Not so few as four, not so many you’re swamped with 100. A happy compromise.View Deal

Red and blue Nintendo Switch Joy-Cons in controller shell

Julian needs a rest. So it’s a somewhat refreshed Vic Hood, TRG’s Associate Editor, taking over for the next few hours.

Black Friday is now fast approaching, so I imagine the deals are going to ramp up a fair bit today before the biggest discounts drop tomorrow on PS5, Xbox Series X and Nintendo Switch products.

If you’re on the hunt for a Switch this Black Friday (or are a new Switch owner) then make sure you avoid these 5 most common mistakes people make with the Nintendo Switch. You’ll thank us later.

Xbox Game Pass game montage

If you’re an Xbox Series X or Xbox Series S owner, I highly advise you try to pick up a discounted Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription this Black Friday.

Microsoft’s subscription service packs in access to a library with over 100 games, all the benefits of Xbox Live Gold, and access to cloud gaming. It’s great value for money, especially when you consider that new Xbox exclusives are added to the library on day one, when purchasing them alone could set you back over £60/$60.

Usually, I would recommend picking up 12 months Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription but right now there are no decent deals on this membership. There are however discounts on a 3-month membership, which I advise picking up if you don’t want to risk waiting for a 12-month only for it not to appear during Black Friday weekend (though I don’t think that will be the case).

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate | 3 months: Was $39.89 now $25.39 at CDKeys
Save 36% –
Typically we would recommend a 12-month Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription as it’s better value for money, but we’re not seeing good deals on it right now. So if you are after Game Pass Ultimate, and don’t want to wait for the price to drop further, then this is a tasty discount to consider. View Deal

Key art of the PlayStation gift cards

We’ve already seen some sizeable discounts on PS Plus in the UK (which you will find further down this blog). But we’re expecting these deals could get even better over Black Friday weekend.

After all, Black Friday is the best time to renew your PS Plus membership (or sign up if you haven’t yet). That’s because if you pick up a discounted 12-month membership now then, when it comes to renewing next year, it’ll be Black Friday again and you’ll get another discount. It’s a genius strategy.

Just remember that PS Plus cards have been replaced with gift cards since the subscription service revamp, but there are still discounts to be had and we’ll share them with you right here.

Scuf Impact or Instinct Pro Gaming Controller

The DualSense and Xbox Wireless Controller are great and all but if you’d rather have a customized gamepad then consider heading over to SCUF which is offering 20% off all its custom controllers right now.

I warn you, these premium gamepads are fairly pricey, but if you’ve been umming and ahhing about whether to create the neon PS5 controller of your dreams, then now is a perfect time.

All you have to do is enter the code ‘CYBER20’ at checkout and you’ll get your discount.

Scuf Reflex Pro | Customized: 20% off with code CYBER20
Scuf is currently offering 20% off all its custom controllers right now, including the Scuf Reflex Pro which works with PS5 and PC. Prices start at $219.99, so this is a pricier option than the DualSense but 20% off certainly helps take the sting out (a bit). View Deal

And the 48-inch model means it won’t even take up too much room.View Deal

The QN90B delivers Samsung’s best 4K image quality from its latest range, featuring a super-advanced mini-LED backlight for incredible brightness and best-in-class contrast, while the QLED panel means bold and natural colours. HDR looks incredible, and it’s much brighter than OLED TVs, so is ideal for daylight viewing. It’s also equipped for next-gen gaming, with 4K 120Hz and VRR support. It even sounds good! We gave the QN95B (which is essentially identical for images, but with a different design) five stars.View Deal

Someone installing a WD Black SN850 PS5 SSD

Here at TRG, we’re keeping a keen eye out for PS5 SSD deals. That’s because some of the best PS5 games are pushing upwards of 200GB recently, meaning they very quickly use up the PlayStation 5’s 667GB of space. So the extra storage granted by a PS5 SSD is very welcome.

But, there’s a fair bit to consider when looking for an SSD, including read and write speed. Fortunately, our Hardware Editor Aleksha McLoughlin has explained whether PS5 SSD read and write speeds really make a difference

The best SSD for PS5, the WD Black SN850 SSD, on a colourful background

Speaking of PS5 SSDs, there are some great discounts on them available right now.

In the US, there’s a chunky $150 off the WD Black SN850 1TB at Amazon. While those in the UK can pick up a Crucial X8 2TB Portable SSD for over £100 off at Amazon.

There are plenty more PS5 SSD deals available right now, which you can check out below too. Act fast, though, as we’re seeing these SSD deals getting snapped up pretty quickly.

Has God of War Ragnarok convinced you to pick up a PS5? If so then you’ll be pleased to know we’re seeing quite a few Black Friday PS5 bundle deals (particularly in the US) right now that pack in Kratos’ latest adventure.

In our five-star God of War Ragnarok review, we said:

“Building upon the themes of its predecessor, God of War Ragnarok’s emotive narrative shines in its subtler moments, while clever evolutions to combat introduce welcome changes that advance gameplay without oversaturating it. It’s a sequel that is often as brutal as it is poignant – and a fitting next chapter in Kratos and Atreus’ journey.”

In other words, it’s one of the best PS5 games to date and not to be missed.

Sony A80J 55-inch OLED TV: was £1,399 now £999 at John Lewis
This TV from 2021 features Sony’s phenomenal image processing, plus the rich colors and infinite contrast that OLED is famed for. It’s also a ‘Perfect for PlayStation’ TV, meaning that not only supports the 4K 120Hz and VRR features of the next-gen console (as any TVs do), but also the Auto HDR Tone Mapping features, which make HDR gaming look even better. This is the cheapest it’s ever been, and though it’s an older TV, getting these kinds of features at 55 inches for under £1000 makes it an excellent deal.

Hyperkin Duke

Do you remember the original controller that came with the first Xbox console ever released? That’s right, it’s The Duke. Affectionately named for its hulking size, the plus-sized gamepad made waves, and potential earthquakes if you dropped it (let’s be real) for its focus on ergonomics.

Well, it’s back! Hyperkin’s love letter to the big boi is now available with a substantial discount. You can get your hands (both of them) on the Hyperkin Duke Wired Controller for just $59.99 (was $90) for a $30 saving. Xbox Series X console with controller and colourful background

This is Jules signing back on after some much needed kip. Look, we all saw the battery deal I ended my shift on yesterday and I think we can all agree I needed to step away from the computer and… recharge my batteries. Sorry. But not very sorry.

I’m now back and scouring the internet for the finest deals not very much money can buy. My top priorities are consoles, finding you savings on the PS5, Xbox Series X, and Nintendo Switch OLED, components, and peripherals. However, I will also be flagging great games when I see them.

This first deal goes out to all those UK buyers up late looking for an Xbox Series X. Very is selling the tower of power for just £429.99, £30 off the RRP. We’ve not seen the console on its own for better than that.

If you’re shopping in the US, I’m looking for good prices on the Series X, but in the meantime, you can get yourself a pre-owned Xbox Series S from Gamestop for $229.99 or, if you can get out to a Target, you can buy the all-digital Xbox for $249.99 and get a $50 Target gift card. Though, note that it’s pick-up only.

Xbox Series X | Was £449.99 now £429.99 at Very
Save £30 –

Ace Combat 7 box art

Black Friday blogs are usually about telling you all the things that you could buy, especially with big ticket items getting some steep discounts. But, I do want to give a slight warning when it comes to slight simulator gear.

Simulator peripherals are some of the most expensive gaming add-ons you can buy and I’ve fallen foul of this with flight simulator games. I love games like Ace Combat and Crimson Skies, and when I got into Microsoft Flight Simulator I thought I should invest in that hobby. Don’t make my mistake, buy cheap peripherals this Black Friday.

Here are a couple of low price items, I’d recommend if you’re buying your first flight stick.

PXN-USB Flight Simulation Stick: $49.99 at Amazon
This cheap and cheerful joystick doesn’t have the bells and whistles of more expensive gear but it’s a fine starting piece. You can guiltlessly replace it down the line if you want something better.View Deal

Thrustmaster T.Flight HOTAS 4: Was $89.99 now $58.99 at Amazon
Save $30 – If you’re not looking for something as comprehensive as the FCS Flight Pack, this is an excellent entry point to Flight Sim peripherals. If you enjoy using it, expect to upgrade in the not-too-distant future. If you don’t, well, you didn’t drop $400 on a hobby that didn’t take off.

Thrustmaster T.Flight Hotas 4 – Joystick and Throttle for PS5 / PS4 / PC: was £69.99 now £49.98 at Amazon

Save £20 – If you’re a keen Elite Dangerous gamer, then one of the best ways you can improve your game is by investing in a joystick. The Thrustmaster T16000M FCS is an entry-level joystick in the grand scheme of things, but it’s a fantastic start to the hobby.View Deal

Breath of the Wild

It may have launched with the console all the way back in 2017, but The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is still both one of the best Nintendo Switch games and also, painfully, subject to the Nintendo tax. The company very rarely lets the price of its first-party titles drop, so years after release, they’re still selling at full price. This is why when we see a game as good as Breath of the Wild for $29.99, we have to recommend it.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (Switch): Was $69.99 now $29.99 at Target
Save $30 –
Completely reinventing and revitalizing Zelda, Breath of the Wild is a classic that’s as good five years on as the day it was released. We don’t often see a discount as significant as this, so if you’ve not played it yet, we highly recommend it.View Deal

Galactic PS5 covers (in order) - Galactic Purple, Nova Pink, Nova Pink, Cosmic Red, Midnight Black

Where are all the Black Friday PS5 deals? We’ve seen some great discounts on games and accessories but in the face of Xbox Series X Black Friday deals and Black Friday Nintendo Switch deals, where we’re seeing price cuts on the consoles themselves, Sony has been letting the side down.

It’s a sign of a real problem, particularly as this may have been the last opportunity for Sony to reduce the price of the PS5 for a long time. I’ve broken down how much better the competition has been doing and why this may have been a significant win for Microsoft.

I don’t want to do the PS5 down. After all, if you’ve already got your hands on the console you can set yourself up with some great accessories. Sony’s official first-party headset, the Pulse 3D wireless headset has been reduced to just $69.99 from its usual $99.99, you can pick up a the DualSense for just $35.99, instead of the usual $54.99, and you can get a superb PS5 SSD for just $109.99.

The headset and the SSD, in particular, will significantly better your gaming experience, giving you access to the immersive audio Sony made such a big deal of around the PS5’s reveal. It really makes itself known in games like the Uncharted re-release. And the SSD will significantly increase the storage space of your console, allowing you to install more games.

Lego

Taking a momentary break from gaming, because, alongside keeping things ticking over here at TRG, I’ve also been searching for deals on two items: a 12-inch cast iron Lodge skillet (which I finally tracked down for £45, thank you very much) and Lego sets. Look, it’s been a really long year, and this Christmas, I finally have some time booked off, and I just want to sit down with steady supply of teas, put on some podcasts, and assemble some Lego kits.

Well, one of the best I’ve seen yet is the 1900-piece Guardians of the Galaxy set, which normally sells for £140. Amazon is shifting this gargantuan set for £78. Another tempting deal is Boba Fett’s starship, which is down to £33.99 (sadly, the Razor Crest is only down by 6%. If you want a silly big set, then you should take a look at the 2,700-piece Marvel Sanctum Sanctorum, even with a 20% discount, it’ll set you back £167.99, but I’m sorely tempted.

LEGO Marvel The Guardians’ Ship: was £139.99 now £78.99 at Amazon
Save 44% – Just think how many teas you could get through putting together a set this large. It’s not a Lego set, it’s a whole screen-less weekend, listening to the Alan Partridge podcast, and eating chocolate-covered raisins.View Deal

LEGO Star Wars Boba Fett’s starship: was £44.99 now £33.99 at Amazon
Save 24% – Okay, this Lego set isn’t as substantial as the others. It may only last you an afternoon, but that’s at least a pack of digestive dipped into a couple of mugs of tea. You could listen to the deluxe editions of Folklore and Evermore through at least twice.View Deal

LEGO Marvel Sanctum Sanctorum: was £214.99 now £167.99 at Amazon
Save 22% – Look, you can have too much of a good thing. I recognize that. But, just imagine a whole week at the coffee table. You could put the Wizard of Earthsea audiobooks on, have some cheese on toast when your back started to get sore and you took a break to walk around the set, taking in your progress.View Deal

Nintendo Switch

If you’re in the market for a Nintendo Switch, there are some great deals on at Woot! (the ‘!’ is part of the site’s name, I’m not that excited about it). The site is backed by Amazon and there are a lot of reviews on line of people reporting successful orders, but bear in mind you are not ordering from Amazon itself with these.

You can get yourself a Nintendo Switch Animal Crossing edition for $279.99, $20 less than the deal going on Amazon itself. The store also lists a Pokémon-themed Nintendo Switch OLED going for $339.99 (though it doesn’t come with a copy of the game). There’s also a great price on a straight OG Nintendo Switch, going for $267.99, which is $30 less than the Best Buy deal we list on out Black Friday Nintendo Switch deals page, though that comes bundled with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and three months of Nintendo Switch Online Membership.

Nintendo Switch with Neon Blue and Neon Red Joy‑Con: was $299.99 now $267.99 at Woot!
Save $30
-A no-thrills OG Nintendo Switch. If you plan on mostly playing the console in docked mode, this is the version of the console to seek out. Get a copy of Breath of the Wild, too, treat yourself.View Deal

Nintendo Switch: Animal Crossing New Horizons Special Edition: was $299.99 now $279.99 at Woot!
Save $20
– Not a huge saving on an OG Nintendo Switch, but this is such a gorgeously designed take on the traditional console. If you’ve sunk into the chill bliss of Animal Crossing, you may want to reflect that in your dock and Joy-Con.View Deal

Nintendo Switch – OLED Model Pokémon Scarlet & Violet Edition: was $359.99 now $339.99 at Woot!
Save $20
– Not a huge saving on an this custom version of the Nintendo Switch OLED, but it’s currently out of stock on the official Nintendo store. So, the $20 saving and the fact you can actually buy it may be reason enough to take a punt on Woot! (again, name of the shop, not my own excitement).View Deal

Over at Walmart there are a stack of great Switch games getting serious discounts. Earlier this moring/last night (what even is time?), I flagged up a Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild deal at Target, that saw the game reduced to $39.99, well Walmart as that beat at $29, you can also get Animal Crossing: New Horizons for $29, Sonic Frontiers for, you guessed it, $29, and Sonic Mania for just $10.

Have a look through Walmart’s game listings, there are loads of good games at great prices.

Xbox Series S against a stark black background

Hi there! And Happy Black Friday! It’s Vic Hood, TRG’s Associate Editor here with you once again and today is the big day. Though, it maybe doesn’t feel as big as it has in previous years as most retailers have gone pretty early with their Black Friday gaming deals.

Fortunately, many of these great discounts are still live or have had further price cuts. So, for the next few hours, I’ll be wrangling them all for you right here.

PowerA Fusion Pro 2 Black Friday deal

If you’re looking for a more affordable alternative to the Xbox Wireless Controller then it’s worth considering this great third-party gamepad deal.

The PowerA Fusion 2 Pro controller for Xbox Series X|S is down to just $49.99 at Amazon in the US right now, making it one of the best Black Friday Xbox controller deals we’ve seen this year.

While it’s always worth being a little bit cautious with third-party gamepad brands, PowerA’s pads are some of the best Xbox controllers you can buy and come with the official ‘Designed for Xbox’ seal of approval. The only downside here is that it’s a wired controller, so if that’s a dealbreaker for you then this might not be the gamepad for you.

God of War Ragnarok

I know I brought these to your attention earlier in this blog, but there are still some great PS5 God of War Ragnarok bundle deals available in both the US and UK. So if you’ve been looking to pick up a PlayStation 5 and the God of War sequel is on your radar, then they’re definitely worth considering.

We’re not seeing huge discounts on PS5 consoles this year, so if you’re on the hunt for one then a bundle like this is likely the best option.

US

PS5 God of War Ragnarok Bundle: $559 at Walmart
Historically speaking, PS5 bundles are a less competitive way to get yourself the console. We’re hoping that this bundle could be a faster way of getting in your hands on the system and one of the best games of the generation, too.View Deal

Uncharted 4: A Thief's End

If you do decide to pick up a PS5 this Black Friday, then you may be considering picking up a PS5 SSD too. While we highly recommend PS5 SSDs for those who want to increase the console’s internal storage, it’s worth considering a PS5 external SSD too.

In fact, TechRadar’s Matt Bolton believes that an external SSD should be your essential Black Friday PS5 upgrade, especially if you play a lot of PS4 games on the latest Sony console.

While you can now install PS5 games on an external SSD, you need to transfer them back to internal storage in order to play them. Instead, if you pick one up, we advise installing PS4 games onto it (which you can play) meaning you save internal storage for those chunkier PS5 games.

A man looking tired and bored at his gaming pc

(Image credit: Shutterstock / Ponomarenko Anastasia)

CDKeys’ Black Friday sale is underway in the US and UK, offering up to 90% off games and discounts on subscription services. Frankly, I’ve looked through the deals and they’re pretty disappointing this year.

Typically CDKeys is one of the best retailers for discounted PS Plus membership and, since the revamp, I expected it would still be one of the best for the PS Plus Gift Cards that have replaced them. But this year, for some reason, the deals aren’t nearly as good on these gift cards – with some discounted wallet funds even costing more than the funds are worth.

While there were some decent discounts on 12-month Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscriptions, which had their prices slashed by 29%, these are now sold out.

Xbox Series S and Halo Infinite deal

The Xbox Series S is down to its lowest price to date in the UK. You can pick up the console for £179.99 at Box (a £70 discount) right now. But act fast, this deal will likely sell out very quickly.

Third time’s the charm? Hey everyone! This is Aleksha McLoughlin, TRG’s Hardware Editor, back again to bring you all the coolest Black Friday gaming deals around right now.

We’re kicking things off with the unconventional as various Super Mario Lego sets have had their prices come crashing down for the winter sales events. In particular, the Mario Starter Course is discounted to just $47.99 (was $60) for a $12 saving. That’s far from all, though. It’s just the start of proceedings in fact as many different expansion kits have had their respective MSRPs reduced, too.

Hot Wheels Rainbow Road

I’m noticing a pattern here, are you? When we think about iconic Mario Kart race tracks, few are as iconic as the fearsome Rainbow Road. The course has gained its legendary reputation ever since the first-ever title in the long-running series 30 years now. It’s known as the final track to test your mettle against friends and family alike, and now it’s been immortalized… in Hot Wheels form.

You can currently get your hands on the Hot Wheels Mario Kart Rainbow Road set at Amazon for just $99.99 (was $150) for a third off the sticker price – saving you $50. Although this in-demand play set has been cheaper in the past, the general availability in the US has been limited since it launched back around a year ago, so now is a great time to consider it for kids in your life.

Julianna trying to stab Colt in Deathloop

Xbox Series X gamers, rejoice! The once previously PS5 timed exclusive Deathloop is now available on your platform, and for a record-lowest price. We absolutely loved the game, giving it a near-perfect 4.5-star rating. It’s not quite up there with the likes of Arkane’s Dishonored series, but there’s still a great adventure to be had here!

Although those on PC and Sony’s side of the fence have been able to play through Colt’s adventure in Black Reef for around a year now, those who have played the long game have benefitted well in both the US and the UK. That’s because Deathloop is available for only $19.99 (was $60) for a $40 saving at Amazon.
