Like previous years, Computex takes place in Taipei, Taiwan from Tuesday, June 4,  until Friday, June 7, 2024.

TechRadar is on the ground this year reporting on all the latest news, announcements, and product showcases from industry titans like AMD, Nvidia, Asus, MSI, and many more.

On this page, you’ll find all the latest news, hands-on, and analysis, so bookmark this page and check back regularly during the event to catch all the latest news and previews. It’s shaping up to be a very exciting year at Computex.

Cut to the chase

  • What is it? The biggest computing conference of the year
  • When is it? June 4 – June 7
  • Where is it? Taipei, Taiwan

Computex 2024 Date

Computex 2024 officially kicked off on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, and runs until Friday, June 7, 2024. Unlike Computex 2023, the conference opened with a keynote from AMD CEO Dr. Lisa Su, who has traditionally opened Computex events in the past, although she was bumped last year for Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang.

Qualcomm and Intel also had major keynote addresses as well, and unsurprisingly the AI PC theme that we’ve seen throughout 2024 has also been a big theme at Computex 2024.

Beyond that, we expect other manufacturers to announce new products from companies big and small such as Asus, Acer, AMD, Intel, Gigabyte, MSI, Nvidia, and many more throughout the week.

Computex 2024 news and opinion

There’s plenty of exciting news comping out of Taipei, especially revolving around AI PCs and software. We’re also guaranteed to see tons of other hardware and software announcements and demos, new accessories and toys to look forward to, and a host of other wonderful and sometimes weird finds.

The most exciting things at Computex this year didn’t come from AMD or Intel, and it’s not Nvidia’s ‘digital humans’ either. According to UK Computing Editor, Christian Guyton, the most impressive stuff came from Qualcomm.

Asus has demonstrated its ROG Mjolnir portable UPS (uninterruptible power supply) at Computex 2024, and it offers some impressive functionality backed up by an eye-catching physical design.

As its name makes clear, the Asus ROG Mjolnir is inspired by the thunder god Thor’s hammer from Norse mythology. It’s an apt name, too, considering the power delivery of up to 700W for around 60 minutes, with its 768Wh battery size.

Lexar reveals incredibly fast SSDs, RAM and other storage innovations at Computex 2024

Lexar has unveiled a host of new storage solutions at Computex 2024 which includes PCIe Gen 5.0 and Gen 4.0 NVMe SSDs, as well as RAM and flash memory.

A total of four new internal SSDs have been announced with the Lexar Professional NM1090 M.2 Gen 5.0 NVMe leading the charge. It’s available in capacities from 1TB to 4TB with a rated sequential performance of 12,000MB/s reads and 11,000MB/s writes. That’s fast enough to put the frighteners on some of the best SSDs for gaming.

UK Computing Editor Christian Guyton is at Computex 2024 and he’s tested out a Samsung Galaxy Book4 Edge (amongst others) running on the new Snapdragon X Elite chip, and was amazed to see it running Baldur’s Gate 3 at a stable 30-35fps – in 4K!

For an Arm-based laptop with no dedicated graphics card, this is very impressive stuff – and could worry the likes of Intel and AMD.

MSI introduces the world’s first AI gaming monitor at Computex 2024

The theme of computing in 2024 is very much the AI PC, but MSI is taking that one step further with the world’s first AI gaming monitor, the MSI MEG 321URX QD-OLED display, announced this week at Computex 2024.

The 32-inch monitor features a technology that MSI calls A.I. Sky Sight, which uses machine learning to detect enemy positions during gameplay and highlights them on screen.

Snapdragon CPUs could be over 50% of Windows PCs by 2029, Qualcomm’s CEO predicts – so should Intel be worried?

Qualcomm is certainly talking a big game when it comes to its new Arm-based Snapdragon X (Arm-based) chips at Computex 2024, and Rene Haas, CEO of Arm, suggested expects Arm processors to make up 50% of the Windows PC market within five years.

It’s an ambitious target, and could make Intel and AMD worried.

Intel is one of the biggest names in computing, and is the market leader when it comes to processors – so it’s always worth listening to what the company’s CEO, Pat Gelsinger, has to say.

However, Intel’s Computex 2024 keynote was particularly noteworthy this year as the company is facing its stiffest competition in years – not just from traditional rival AMD, but also from the likes of Qualcomm and Apple as well.
