The DALI Kore speakers are BIG – and come in bigger crates. The weigh in at 148 Kg each, and have special castors bolted to the stands to make it possible to move them around. The Packing crates have a front panel which comes off and doubles as a ramp to roll the speakers down, so clearly DALI have thought about how people are going to get these into place.
It is clear though that most thought has gone into how they sound – as they put it, they are the “culmination of everything we’ve learned in four decades of loudspeaker design and manufacturing in one outstanding loudspeaker.”
Technically the DALI Kore Speakers are a 4-way design, though two of those ways are the traditional (for DALI) combination of soft dome and ribbon tweeter for the top end. At the other end of the scale, two huge bass drivers in the top and bottom of the cabinet mean that these speakers are not without the weight and power that their physical size alone would suggest. In fact the bass is incredibly crisp and powerful, without being overblown or flabby. They are amazingly transparent and detailed, producing a great soundstage and allowing you to be really drawn into the music, and drawn to winding the volume up to epic levels, where it doesn’t sound like they are at all stressed. As the volume is increased, the sound doesn’t so much get louder, as get bigger, which is a very exciting experience!
We liked these so much that we’ve ordered a pair for the showroom, and considering the £70,000 price tag, that’s a lot of like! Come and have a listen and see if you agree!
