Thomas Klaps Techno

Hailing from Belgium, Thomas Klaps has already built up a sizeable following for his brand of techno. We asked him to introduce himself further.

Who are you?

I am Thomas Klaps.

Where are you from?

Belgium! Paal, to be more exact and I’m living in Houthalen at the moment.

What do you sound like?

I was always driven by acid sounds. And now I like to put these sounds on a groovy bass.

Why should we follow what you’re doing?

You should check me out if you like to have a proper rave on groovy techno. And, of course, to support some upcoming talents…

Which of your tracks sums you up? Why?

A few years ago, I would have said something different. But now it is Eartickle, as this is what my sound is like these days.

What do you have coming out in the near future?

I have an EP coming up on Klaudia Gawlas’ Illusion Records in March, and a one-track release in February on my own label, Get In Line.

What or who is your biggest influence and why?

Reinier Zonneveld was a big inspiration first, but I have several right now. Like for example, my good friend Luigi Madonna keeps doing what he likes most.

How did you get into DJing/producing to begin with?

I was always into music, not just techno but really all types. But 10 years ago, I went to the Random parties in Belgium, where upcoming artists like Rebekah/Pfirter/Sam Paganini etc would play, and that’s where I got my techno vibe.

What are three things on your studio shopping list?

To be honest not much. I just bought five Elektron assets for my studio. I am now working on some other things for 2025!

Who or what have you sacrificed for your art

As every DJ would mention: time with friends. For example, on NYE, I always need to play, so I leave my girlfriend, friends, and family to do my job. What I like!

What’s been your favourite place to play so far?

RAVE REBELS! What a production, insane. They are top of the bill, and I am happy to play there often.

Where can we hear your music?

All channels. Spotify, Beatport – even the radio!

What one song would feature on the soundtrack to your life?

All time favorite of mine is The Chain by Fleetwood Mac. You did not expect this one huh?

What motivates you?

I still get adrenaline and goosebumps from playing my music for people all over the world. To take them on my musical journey during the night. With an all nighter, I can do everything I like.

Tell us an interesting fact about yourself.

My first experience as a DJ was with a very good friend, and we played a wide variety of music, from the 60s to the 00s!

Complete this sentence: At heart I’m just a…

An honest and down-to-earth guy that enjoys the good things in life.

What’s the best bit of advice you’ve received?

Stick to your sound and vision. Don’t let anyone influence that.

Where will you be in five years?

Hopefully, not in one place, more like touring around the world and making people dance to my music!
